Weaking Individual Liberties Through Government-Imposed Limits on Investment Risk by Amending the "Expanding Access to Capital Act".

The "Youth Poisoning Protection Act" sponsored by Rep. Lori Trahan (D-MA) would ban the consumer sale of products containing concentrations of sodium nitrite (a meat-curing chemical) which exceed 10%. According to the sponsor, the chemical can be lethal when ingested in high concentrations and is being popularized and encouraged as an easily accessible method to die by suicide. Oppose is the Limited Government Position as while mental health continues to represent a major crisis within our society, bans on sodium nitrite, firearms, or other products than can inflict self-harm, fail to address the underlying cause of the problem. This one-size-fits-all approach on implementing an outright ban merely drives up costs for small businesses and consumers.

Imposing an Overreaching Federal Ban on Sodium Nitrite in an Ineffective Attempt to Curb Suicide Through the "Youth Poisoning Protection Act".

The Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) amendment #60 to the "Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2024" strikes $186.3 million in funding for the National Endowment for the Arts. Socializing the Costs of Regional Projects onto Federal Taxpayers through the "Thomas R. Carper Water Resources Development Act".

This resolution introduced by Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) utilizes the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to nullify a rule issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau titled "Small Business Lending under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Regulation B)". The Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) amendment #9 to the "Expanding Access to Capital Act of 2023" would require any investment adviser, private fund, or an investment company that is subject to the bill to annually and publicly disclose their investments into women-owned, minority-owned, LGBTQ-owned, and other businesses. Advancing DEI Through a Politicized Mandate Forcing Private Companies to Disclose their Investments into Minority, LGBTQ and Women-owned Businesses.

The "One Seat Ride Act", introduced by Rep. Thomas Kean (R-NJ), directs the Secretary of Transportation to conduct a study on the feasibility of single-seat commuter rail trips, particularly on New Jersey's Raritan Valley Line. Currently, Raritan Valley Line passengers are forced to change trains at Newark Penn Station to access New York City. A 'One-Seat-Ride' allows passengers to take a single train to NYC. Oppose is the Limited Government Position as implementation of a "one-seat-ride" would inevitably result in greater taxpayer-funded subsidies for transit. It should not be the role of federal government to set train schedules and routes. Instead, lawmakers should work to privatize all such transit systems - especially Amtrak - to end the practice of taxpayers subsidizing travel costs of individuals who wish to utilize such systems.

Advancing Greater Taxpayer Spending on Transit Subsidies through the "One Seat Ride Act" Which Studies the Creation of Direct Rail Routes from NJ to NYC.

The Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) amendment #57 to the Strategic Production Response Act bans oil and gas leasing on federal land if the land is viable for renewable energy production. Oppose is the Limited Government Position as this amendment is primariy designed to shut down nearly all oil and gas extration on federal land as part of a politicized environmental agenda. U.S. access to low-cost energy is essential to growing the economy and improving the quality of life for all Americans.

Hiking Energy Prices by Banning American Oil and Gas Extraction Across All Federal Land that Could be Viable for Renewable Energy Production.

This resolution, introduced by Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE), utilizes the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to nullify the Environmental Protection Agency rule titled "Control of Air Pollution From New Motor Vehicles: Heavy-Duty Engine and Vehicle Standards". The rule, covering commercial trucks imposes much stricter emissions standards covering nitrogen oxides and other air pollutants, including particulate matter, hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide. According to the sponsor, the rule "saddles the trucking industry with an onerous regulation" and that "the prices of newer vehicles will escalate, incentivizing truckers and businesses to hold onto their older, higher-emitting trucks". The "National Aviation Preparedness Plan Act of 2022" requires the Department of Transportation to develop a national aviation preparedness plan that includes the identification of appropriate personal protective equipment to reduce exposure to a communicable disease and consultations with airline and labor groups. Oppose is the Limited Government Position as the primary mission of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention is to constantly monitor and adjust strategy to best protect the public from pandemics - it is an organization better equipped to carry out these duties than the Department of Transportation.

The "Stop Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards Act" sponsored by Rep. Nick Langworthy (R-NY) places limits on the authority of the Department of Energy (DOE) to impose energy conservation standards for dishwashers unless DOE can prove the standards are economically justified and not likely to result in additional net costs to consumers. The bill is in response to DOE's own analysis that found the efficiency mandates of the Biden administration could increase the upfront cost of dishwashers by 28% and it could take consumers 12 years to payback the increased costs on a product that may only last 7-12 years. Advancing a Human Trafficking Bill Containing Wasteful U.S. AID Spending - "Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act".

This bill, sponsored by Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX) prohibits individuals who are not citizens of the United States from voting in elections in the District of Columbia and repeals the "Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2022". While federal law prohibits noncitizens from voting in a federal election, DC enacted a law that allows illegal immigrants to vote in local elections. This bill repeals the DC law, which went into effect on February 23, 2023. Support is the Limited Government Position as the DC law disenfranchises American citizens by allowing their votes to be cancelled out by individuals residing in the country unlawfully. The "Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act" sponsored by Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) requires the Department of Homeland Security to take custody of any illegal immigrant who meets certain criteria and is arrested for, charged with, convicted of, or admits to assaulting a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or other first responder. The bill also directs the Government Accountability Office to report to Congress on the number of non-U.S. nationals detained under the bill. Support is the Limited Government Position as ensuring public safety and national defense is arguably the most important role of government. Failure to secure our nation's border not only has catastrophic implications on the ability to maintain law and order, but also creates countless other issues, ranging from welfare to the education system.

Restoring Law and Order Through the "Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act".

The "Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024" sponsored by Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX) is a $460 billion minibus funding several government agencies through Fiscal Year 2024. Overall spending levels are generally flat compared to the prior year with increases for some agencies and decreases for others. For example, the bill provides a 10% cut to the EPA, 7% cut to ATF, and a 6% cut to the FBI. However, the bill continues to fund the Essential Air Service program and contains countless earmarks which fund pet projects of lawmakers, especially at the Army Corps of Engineers where spending is increased 7-fold. The bill also provides increased spending for a number of welfare programs such as WIC, plus $3.3 billion for community development block grants. Furthermore, hundreds of millions of dollars are directed to fight climate change through carbon capture. Oppose is the Limited Government Position as this bill maintains the unsustainable spending levels which were hiked during the COVID-19 pandemic and is chock-full of wasteful pet-projects of special interests. Lawmakers must rein in the out-of-control spending and $35 trillion in national debt, which, when coupled with the $200 trillion in federal liabilities, represents the greatest existential threat facing this country. Note: two Democratic lawmakers who opposed the bill were marked as "X" due to the fact their opposition was not the spending but rather minor provisions pertaining to gun control.

Fueling Out-of-Control Spending Through a Budget Bill Filled with Waste and Funding Earmarked for Pet Projects of Lawmakers.

The Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) amendment #18 to the "Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2025" prevents funds from being used to implement, administer, or enforce section 134 of the Clean Air Act. This section of the act pertains to the EPA greenhouse gas reduction fund created under the Inflation Reduction Act. Strengthening Government Integrity by Blocking Expenditures Within the $27 Billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Slush Fund.

The "Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act" or SAVE Act sponsored by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) requires individuals to provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections. The bill also requires each state to take affirmative steps on an ongoing basis to ensure that only U.S. citizens are registered to vote, including the removal of noncitizens from their official lists of eligible voters. Support is the Limited Government Position as public trust in the integrity of our elections - especially ensuring U.S. elections are decided solely by Americans - is essential to safeguarding democracy.

Safeguarding Democracy and Preventing Foreign Interference in U.S. Elections by Ensuring Only U.S. Citizens are Eligible to Vote.

The Victoria Spartz (R-IN) amendment #4 to the "Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024" would strike sections 401, 402, 403, and 407, thus reversing the Presidential drawdowns which were increased within the underlying bill (increased from $100 million to $8 billion). According to the sponsor, we should not "be giving a true blank check to President Biden of $16 billion" and "we have the power of the purse for a reason". The "D.C. Criminal Reforms to Immediately Make Everyone Safe (DC CRIMES) Act of 2024" sponsored by Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) would limit the authority of the District of Columbia (DC) government over its criminal sentencing laws and amends the definition of "youth offender" in DC by reducing the maximum age from 24 years to 18 years - thereby eliminating a loophole allowing dangerous criminals to escape jail time. Due to the "criminal justice reforms" implemented by DC's government, violent crime in the District rose 39% from 2023 to 2024. Support is the Limited Government Position as protecting property rights and ensuring public safety through a well-staffed police force serve as essential components of government. Unfortunately, so-called criminal justice "reforms", like the DC Council's acts, have led to skyrocketing crime rates and are being advanced across the nation by George Soros and other left-leaning Billionaires through their funding of advocacy organizations on both sides of the political aisle.

Combatting Skyrocketing Crime in D.C. by Overturning the Council's Dangerous Policing and Criminal Justice Reforms Through the "DC CRIMES Act".

The Jayapal Amd. No. 5 to the "United States Innovation and Competition Act" requires the State Department coordinate with the Department of Energy to report on the impact of US sanctions related to innovation, emissions reduction, climate cooperation, and economic justice. Oppose is the Limited Government Position as foreign policy - especially the imposition of sanctions - are highly sensitive actions that have enormous impacts on global economic stability and United States national security. Such actions should not be further complicated through unnecessary, poorly defined, and politized requirements.

Placing Unnecessary Requirements Surrounding "Environmental Justice" in U.S. Sanctions and Foreign Policy Operations.

The Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) amendment #5 to the "Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act" would expand the use of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to vet foreigners traveling to the United States. While Section 702 prohibits the NSA and FBI from "intentionally" targeting Americans through its mass surveillance, these agencies acquire a huge amount of innocent Americans' communications "incidentally." These agencies can then conduct backdoor, warrantless searches of these "incidentally collected" communications. Through this amendment, a larger group of Americans would now be subject to having their communications collected and added to the government FISA database without a warrant. Oppose is the Limited Government Position as this amendment merely further worsens the underlying bill and violates the protections provided to Americans against unreasonable searches and seizures under the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Weakening Civil Liberties by Expanding Warrantless Surveillance Under Section 702 of FISA to Encompass a Greater Number of Americans on the Grounds of "Travel Vetting".

The "Next Generation Pipelines Research and Development Act" sponsored by Rep. Randy Weber (R-TX) creates new spending programs for researching and developing advanced technologies and materials for natural gas pipelines. Under the bill, the Department of Energy (DOE) will award financial grants to select companies "involved in the development of next generation pipeline systems, components, and related technologies". Oppose is the Limited Government Position as this cronyism provides competitive advantages and enriches government-favored companies at taxpayer expense. The free market - not government bureaucrats - is best equipped to direct funding to the most promising technologies, unlike government which is not subject to "profit and loss" signals like the private sector. Note: The lawmakers who opposed the bill due to their opposition of fossil fuels were also recorded as opposing the limited government position.

Expanding Cronyism and Enriching Government Favored Companies through the "Next Generation Pipelines Research and Development Act".

The Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) amendment #36 to the "Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025" would prohibit the use of funds for any project or activity related to NATO until the Secretary of Defense certifies to the congressional defense committees that each member country of NATO has spent 2 percent of the respective GDP on defense expenditures. According to the sponsor "The U.S. continues to spend far more than its fair share and takes on the overwhelming responsibility of being the world's police". Support is the Limited Government Position as this measure helps place pressure on the other members of NATO to meet their commitments. The taxpayers of the U.S. should not be forced to continue shouldering a disproportionate share of the financial burden.

Strengthening NATO Accountability by Withholding Funding Until the Other NATO Member Nations Meet their Obligation of Two Percent of GDP Defense Spending.

The "Sea Turtle Rescue Assistance and Rehabilitation Act of 2023" sponsored by Rep. Bill Keating (D- MA) would grow the size and scope of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) through the creation of a new "Sea Turtle Rescue Assistance and Rehabilitation Grant Program". In 2023, NOAA allocated about $1 million for sea turtle stranding response and rehabilitation activities. Under this bill, NOAA would hire additional employees and spend an estimated $33 million to provide grants to various non-profits which assist sea turtles. Oppose is the Limited Government Position as while rehabilitating sea turtles is a worthy initiative, it is a duty of state and non-profit entities - not the federal government. Taxpayers cannot afford to further grow the federal bureaucracy to support every animal group or the mission of every non-profit entity. The private sector is best equipped to fund these types of initiatives, which ensures waste is minimized and resources directed to the most needed initiatives.

Growing the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to Award Grants to Government-Favored Non-Profits Under the "Sea Turtle Rescue Assistance and Rehabilitation Act".

The "A Stronger Workforce for America Act" sponsored by Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) would reauthorize the "Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and approximately $6.4 billion in annual spending. The "WOIA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy". Oppose is the Limited Government Position as it is the role of employers and non-profits within the private sector - not the government - to train employees working in the private sector. This bill continues to fuel wasteful spending and the central planning schemes of government bureaucrats which enrich select government-favored companies.
